Established by Dr. Ravanbakhsh, the BETA Lab is focused on functional biomaterials and biofabrication technologies for tissue engineering, regenerative medicine, and therapeutic applications.

September 2025: Dr. Ravanbakhsh organized a symposium and gave a talk at ISBF 2025 in Warsaw, Poland.
March 2025: Congrats to Ebrahim Tajik and Luke Ramsier for receiving the best poster awards at the 4th Annual BME Research Day at UA! Luke earned 1st place in the undergraduate poster competition, while Ebi secured 2nd place in the graduate poster competition.
January 2025: We welcome Will and Minuthi, who joined the BETA Lab as Undergraduate researchers.
November 2024: Dr. Ravanbakhsh gave a talk at ISBF 2024 in Fukuoka, Japan.
October 2024: Ebrahim Tajik presented a poster at BMES2024 in Baltimore.
August 2024: We warmly welcome Moontaha and Pratima to join the BETA Lab as the new Ph.D. students.
June 2024: Ebrahim Tajik presented his work on novel polymers for tissue engineering applications at the 7th TERMIS World Congress in Seattle.
June 2024: BETA Lab was awarded the Firestone Initiation Award in collaboration with Dr. James Eagan's lab.
May 2024: We are excited to have Luke join the BETA Lab as an Undergraduate researcher.
March 2024: BETA Lab was awarded The University of Akron's Faculty Research Grant.
January 2024: We are happy to have Ben join the BETA Lab as an Undergraduate researcher.
August 2023: We warmly welcome Ebrahim to join the BETA Lab as a Ph.D. student.
June 2022: Dr. Ravanbakhsh joins the Department of Biomedical Engineering at The University of Akron as an Assistant Professor starting Fall 2023.
